NO ISOLATED INCIDENT

Tuesday, 30 May 2006 10:15 A GMT-07
The Haditha atrocity was not an isolated incident. It is being referred to here in the U.S. as "Iraq's My Lai" the infamous massacre by U.S. troops in Vietnam. As Dahr Jamail notes here, there have been "countless My Lai Massacres in Iraq."

THE HEARTS OF SMALL CHILDREN

Sunday, 28 May 2006 4:43 P GMT-07
Perhaps the worst and saddest thing about the murder of women and children by U.S. troops described in blogs of the last two days, is that it is not an isolated incident. The suffering of children is incalculable.

"TOTAL BREAKDOWN IN MORALITY"

Saturday, 27 May 2006 4:41 P GMT-07
Here are two more accounts of the atrocity reported in my last blog, "This One Is Ugly" and described by a U.S. government official as constituting "a total breakdown in morality."  It was worse than originally reported.

Saturday, 27 May 2006 2:28 P GMT-07

SECRECY ALLOWED 9/11

Monday, 22 May 2006 4:01 P GMT-07
The Bush administration, in their effort to justify their assault on our civil liberties, never tire of claiming that their illegal and unconstitutional warrantlesss wiretapping of citizens is necessary to prevent terrorist attacks in the U.S.

CRONY FAIRY IDENTITY LEAKED

Sunday, 21 May 2006 1:27 P GMT-07
A major problem we face in the U.S. is finally exposed.  The U.S. government is being stalked by an invisible bandit, the Crony Fairy, who visits key agencies, snatches away qualified people and replaces them with unqualified political hacks.

LONG DARK NIGHT IS NOT OVER

Saturday, 20 May 2006 1:57 P GMT-07
Columnist Bob Herbert reminds us that there are more than two and a half years -- nearly as long as the entire time John F. Kennedy  served in office -- remaining in "the long dark night of the Bush presidency.."

ANOTHER POOR NOMINATION

Tuesday, 16 May 2006 5:15 P GMT-07
Bush's nomination of Gen. Hayden to head the CIA, is a "perfect fit" for Bush, though not for the country. From Tenet to Porter Goss to Hayden. A steady slide downhill, though not in Bush's eyes.

WAR OF THE WORLD WIDE WEB

Sunday, 14 May 2006 3:36 P GMT-07
We may be facing an all-out "war" between internet democracy and monopoly capitalism. The outlook for continued internet democracy is not hopeful.

WHO REALLY HATES FREEDOM

Saturday, 13 May 2006 3:58 P GMT-07
One of George Bush's favorite charges against anybody who opposes anyrhing he does or disagrees with anything he says, is to dismiss them as being people who "hate freedom" but Bush himself is the one who really hates freedom as his actions prove.

THE BUSH PUSH - PART II

Tuesday, 9 May 2006 5:03 P GMT-07
Back on April 8 I posted a blog I entitled "The Bush Push - Part I."  Part II is now available and was printed in the May issue of Jim Hightower's monthly publication "The Hightower Lowdawn."

THE AMERICAN EMPIRE

Saturday, 6 May 2006 2:30 P GMT-07
The progressive press is exuberant over that fact that both the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives have now approved amendments to the Emergency Appropriations bill that would prevent the creation of permanent U.S. military bases in Iraq.

DEFENDING THE INDEFENSIBLE

Wednesday, 3 May 2006 9:17 A GMT-07
The Bush administration continues to defend the indefensible.  And the U.S. human rights image has taken a battering abroad over a string of scandals involving the sexual and physical abuse of detainees held by American forces.

MISSIONS NOT ACCOMPLISHED

Tuesday, 2 May 2006 2:56 P GMT-07
Three years after Bush's infamous staged aircraft carrier landing off San Diego, his boast of "Mission Accomplished" rings even more hollow than it did then.  Instead there is a long list of missions related to Iraq that are unaccomplished.

REVOLT OF THE GENERALS

Monday, 1 May 2006 1:16 P GMT-07
That thousands of mistakes have been made in Iraq is quite possible, but they have been strategic mistakes, not tactical mistakes. This was pointed out forcefully by one of the now famous retired generals who have called for Rumsfeld to be relieved a
