SOWING THE WIND

Sunday, 30 July 2006 3:33 P GMT-07
The mass murder of civilians, especially women and children, along with the almost total destruction of a country's infrastructure, carried out by the U.S. military in Iraq, is now being repeated in the Israeli attack on Lebanon. When will we learn?

HOLDING THE LOW GROUND

Saturday, 29 July 2006 4:35 P GMT-07
In any contest a universal maxim for victory is to hold the high ground.  The Bush administration has consistently ignored this rule and has chosen to defend the low ground.

SPIRALING OUT OF CONTROL

Wednesday, 26 July 2006 10:22 A GMT-07
While contemplating the mistakes the Bush administration has made in the Middle East, it becomes apparent that one of the most egregious has been their almost total failure to understand the people that they are dealing with.

TWISTED PRIORITIES

Friday, 21 July 2006 2:46 P GMT-07
With both Congress and the Bush administration paralyzed as the Iraq insurgency spirals into civil war and a non-civil war explodes in Lebanon, they are content to focus on issues such as flag burning, same sex marriage & the Pledge of Allegiance.

PRO WHOSE LIFE?

Thursday, 20 July 2006 3:00 P GMT-07
Bush's first veto is a curious one. It may have driven a wedge into his own base by deviding the political "right" from the "loony right."

THE TINDERBOX EXPLODES

Sunday, 16 July 2006 7:25 A GMT-07
It's an uncredited commentary printed in The Sunday Times a UK newspaper, and posted online at http://www.timesonline.co.uk . I won't comment except to say that I share the author's pessamistic outlook on what is happening there.

AL-NAKBA - THEN & NOW

Friday, 14 July 2006 5:15 P GMT-07
The Israelis call the 1948 war the "War of Independence" while the Palestinians still refer to it as al Nakba, the catastrophe. For Palestinians, it was a catastrophy which continues today. Today what is happening there is al Nakba for both peoples.

IRAQ'S INVISIBLE WOMEN

Thursday, 13 July 2006 6:16 P GMT-07
The article I'm posting below deals with the ugly and shameful violence against Iraqi women most of which does not get reported, hence "Iraq's Invisible Women."

NAZIFICATION OF U.S. ARMY

Sunday, 9 July 2006 2:21 P GMT-07
Recruiting shortfalls have loosened the military's zero-tolerance for racist hate groups with the result that large numbers of skinheads, neo-Nazis and other terrorists are now being welcomed into the services.

DYING FOR BUSH, NOT AMERICA

Saturday, 8 July 2006 1:17 P GMT-07
Historian Howard Zinn examines the real meaning of patriotism and - surprise - its quite different from how the Republicans use the term. As Zinn points out, patriotism involves loyalty to a country, not to a government.

INEPT DEMOCRATS

Friday, 7 July 2006 5:59 P GMT-07
Despite all the optomistic sounds emanating from the DSCC, the DCCC and other Democratic groups and individuals, I am becoming increasingly pessamistic about the chances that party has of taking control of either the Senate or House in November.

STOP ILLEGAL GUNS

Friday, 7 July 2006 4:52 P GMT-07
The National Rifle Association continues to thumb its very long nose at rationality and sanity.  This ultra powerful organization would like nothing more than to have every citizen carrying a concealed loaded weapon and every home an arsenal.

THE TRUTH ABOUT ZARQAWI

Wednesday, 5 July 2006 10:01 A GMT-07
One of the major errors and miscalculations that the Bush administration has made in its "war on terror" has been its misunderstanding of how terrorism operates, with their "decapitation strategy" of killing off terrorist leaders.

WATADA'S WAR ON WAR

Tuesday, 4 July 2006 4:35 P GMT-07
Freedom of choice is the one freedom we have that cannot be taken away. Exercising it is not easy and may result in negative consequences.

UNIVERSAL SOLDIER

Tuesday, 4 July 2006 2:26 P GMT-07
Buffy Sainte-Marie's powerful song about individual responsibility for war and killing.

INVISIBLE WOUNDS

Monday, 3 July 2006 4:42 P GMT-07
Our troops are trained to kill, but are not prepared for dealing with the aftermath of they killing they've been sent to do. Thousands are coming home shattered emotionally from their experiences, suffering from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)

THE OTHER FACE OF TERRORISM

Monday, 3 July 2006 3:32 P GMT-07
Terrorism has many faces.  All of its faces are ugly, shameful and disgusting.  But none more so than when the faces are our own.

JIHAD AGAINST TRUTH

Sunday, 2 July 2006 3:32 P GMT-07
The Bush administration will forever be known for its penchant for lying about almost everything they try to do.  They are also becoming notorious for waging a virtual jihad against anyone who attempts to expose their lies.
